Even though the world is forever changing due to advanced technology, the world of boarding students at Khemasiri Memorial School is still filled with warmth, compassion, and comfort, provided by all of the teachers who constantly take great care of the students as if the students were their own family members.
Besides taking regular classes during the weekdays, Khemasiri offers various activities for the boarding students during the weekends and holidays to help eliminate students’ homesickness and to add valuable experience. Some activities are field trips, cooking (both meals and dessert), Thai music, etc.
Students from Prathom 3 through Mathayom 6 are eligible to apply to be boarding students at Khemasiri, provided that the students are healthy and can perform basic self-care. A very important part is also the fact that boarding students must follow the school’s rules and regulations.
The first minute I stepped onto Khemasiri ground, I was very excited because I knew I would get to study at a prestigious school, meet new friends, and gather exciting experience. After one week had passed, I started to feel homesick. I missed my family and began to feel discouraged because I was a boarding student, far away from home. Often times, I cried. However, after a certain amount of time, I started to feel that the school gave me so much—love, warmth, education and friendship. Every teacher gave tremendous attention to every boarding student. They became our surrogate mothers. The teachers provided activities to keep us occupied such as field trips, saying a prayer every Tuesday and Thursday nights (long prayers to foster concentration and meditation). All these activities helped students to become good and moral persons. For some occasions, Khemasiri requested monks from different temples to teach “Dharma” to the students. The days went by without feeling empty; on the contrary, they were filled with relaxation. I believe that I was extremely fortunate to have the chance to study at Khemasiri. I got to meet great friends, receive great education, and obtain valuable lessons from the teachers. When I finished Mathayom 6, I would never forget my beloved Khemasiri Memorial School.
